Dan McGrath, the Emmy-winning writer and producer known for his work on "The Simpsons," "Saturday Night Live," and "King of the Hill," died on November 14, 2025, at the age of 61. He passed away in a Brooklyn hospital after suffering a stroke, as confirmed by his sister, Gail McGrath Garabedian.

McGrath began his career writing for "The Harvard Lampoon" during his time at Harvard University. He joined "Saturday Night Live" in 1991, earning an Emmy nomination the following year for his collaborations with Chris Farley and Adam Sandler. After two seasons, he moved to "The Simpsons," where he contributed to 50 episodes and produced 24. His work on the 1997 episode "Homer's Phobia" earned him an Emmy Award.

In addition to his work on "The Simpsons," McGrath wrote for and produced episodes of "King of the Hill," "Mission Hill," "Gravity Falls," "The PJs," and "Muppets Tonight." He also taught a course on "Comedy and Cultural Theory" at The Center for Fiction in Brooklyn.

McGrath is survived by his mother, Eleanor; brothers Michael and Peter; sister Gail; nephew Dillon; and nieces Kylie and Emma.
