Libby Adame, a 55-year-old woman from Riverside County, California known as the "butt lady," was convicted of second-degree murder and practicing medicine without a license in connection with the death of actress Cindyana Santangelo. Santangelo, recognized for her roles in "Married... with Children" and "ER," died on March 24, 2025, after receiving silicone injections from Adame at her Malibu home. The cause of death was determined to be a fatal embolism resulting from the injections.
This conviction marks Adame's second involvement in a fatal illegal buttocks enhancement procedure. In March 2024, she and her daughter, Alicia Galaz, were convicted of involuntary manslaughter for the 2019 death of 26-year-old Karissa Rajpaul, who also died following silicone injections administered by the pair. Despite being sentenced to prison, both were released after serving time under electronic monitoring.
During the trial for Santangelo's death, Adame's defense argued that she was merely consulting for licensed doctors in Tijuana and did not perform the fatal procedure. However, the prosecution presented evidence, including inconsistent statements from Adame and communications between her and Santangelo, indicating her direct involvement. On November 5, 2025, Adame was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for her role in Santangelo's death.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns against the use of injectable silicone for body contouring, stating it can lead to serious side effects and even death.
