Students Tour Automation Facility, as Post Electric and Wago Expand into Smart Home Technology

Westerly, RI - Electrical Technology students from Chariho Career and Technical Center visited ProSystems Integration, a Westerly-based automation company, to explore career opportunities in industrial automation. The students, led by instructor Ryan Northup, toured the facility and learned about the design and application of various automated systems, including those used in medical tubing manufacturing and for major brands like Hershey Chocolate and Krispy Kreme.
The visit was organized by Jesse Brunelle, a Chariho alumnus and engineer at ProSystems, and his father, John Brunelle, the company's president. They highlighted the evolving nature of the electrical industry, emphasizing the growing importance of technology and automation. The Brunelles noted that while the fundamental machinery in many industries remains the same, the control systems are constantly advancing, creating a high demand for young talent proficient in modern computer and tablet technologies.
This hands-on experience was designed to broaden the students' understanding of the electrical field beyond residential and commercial applications. Instructor Ryan Northup praised the initiative, stating that it provides students with real-world context for their classroom learning and can inspire them to pursue careers in industrial automation.
