Chariho Career and Technical Center's Electrical Technology class visited ProSystems Integration, an automation company in Westerly, to give students a look at career opportunities in the industrial side of the field. The students toured the facility and learned about the various systems designed for different applications, from medical tubing to automated systems for companies like Hershey Chocolate and Krispy Kreme. The visit was organized by Jesse Brunelle, a Chariho alumnus and engineer at ProSystems, who wanted to expose students to the careers available in the automation field.

Siemens has released the Simatic S7-1200 G2, a new generation of its programmable logic controller (PLC). The new PLC is certified according to the cybersecurity standard IEC 62443, making it compliant with the NIS2 directive. It is also faster and more powerful than the previous generation, with more memory and features. The S7-1200 G2 is also more compact, taking up less space on the DIN rail. A new migration tool in the TIA Portal makes it easy to migrate from the previous generation to the new one.
