Chariho Electrical Technology students explore careers in industrial automation

Students from Chariho Career and Technical Center's Electrical Technology class visited ProSystems Integration, an automation company in Westerly, to learn about career opportunities in the industrial side of the electrical field. The students toured the production floor and spoke with engineers, including Chariho alumnus Jesse Brunelle, about the company's work, which includes developing control systems for a wide variety of applications, from medical tubing to the Mystic River Bascule Bridge. The visit was intended to show students the career paths available in the automation field, which they may not have been aware of.

Siemens' new control system is NIS2 ready

Level Automation has upgraded its control systems from the Simatic S7-1200 to the new generation Simatic S7-1200 G2. The migration was much faster than expected, taking only two minutes thanks to the new migration tool in the TIA Portal. The new system is certified according to the cybersecurity standard IEC 62443, which is important for meeting the requirements of the NIS2 Directive. Level Automation is now at the forefront of the industry in terms of cybersecurity.
