Students from the Chariho Career and Technical Center's Electrical Technology class recently visited ProSystems Integration, an automation company in Westerly, to learn about career opportunities in the industrial side of the electrical field. The students were given a tour of the production floor and shown various pieces of equipment and machines. Jesse Brunelle, a Chariho alumnus and engineer at ProSystems, and his father, John, the company's president and owner, explained that the industry is driven by customer demand and that projects range from medical tubing equipment to automated systems for companies like Hershey Chocolate and Krispy Kreme.
Siemens Simplifies Migration to New Control System
Level Automation, a Swedish company that specializes in electrical and automation cabinets, has successfully migrated from the Simatic S7-1200 to the new generation Simatic S7-1200 G2 control system from Siemens. The migration was completed in just two minutes thanks to a new migration tool in the TIA Portal. The new control system is certified according to the IEC 62443 cybersecurity standard and is ready for the increased requirements of the NIS2 Directive.
