The visit aimed to expose students to the industrial side of the electrical field, which is increasingly driven by customer demand for a wide variety of automated systems. Projects range from equipment for making medical tubing to automated systems for major food brands and even control systems for local infrastructure like the Mystic River Bascule Bridge.
Siemens Announces Easy Migration to New Control System
Level Automation has successfully migrated from the Simatic S7-1200 to the new generation Simatic S7-1200 G2 control system from Siemens. The migration process was surprisingly fast, taking only two minutes thanks to a new migration tool in the TIA Portal. The new system is certified according to the IEC 62443 cybersecurity standard and is ready for the increased requirements of the NIS2 Directive. The new generation of control systems is also more compact, powerful, and offers more memory and features.
