Students from the Chariho Career and Technical Center’s Electrical Technology class visited ProSystems Integration, an automation company in Westerly, to learn about career opportunities in the industrial side of the electrical field. The tour was led by ProSystems engineer and Chariho alumnus Jesse Brunelle, and his father, John Brunelle, the company's president and owner. The students observed various equipment and machines, including an extrusion line for medical tubing. Jesse Brunelle, who graduated from the program two years ago, noted that the curriculum was heavily focused on residential and commercial electrical work, and he wanted to expose current students to the industrial automation sector. He emphasized the vast career opportunities available in this often-overlooked area of the electrical industry. The students also had the opportunity to speak with other engineers at the company to learn about system design and the day-to-day responsibilities of the job.
