Electrical Industry Roundup: Automation, Career Opportunities, and Technology Upgrades

Chariho Career and Technical Center's Electrical Technology class visited an automation company in Westerly, ProSystems Integration, to give students a look at career opportunities on the industrial side of the field.
Level Automation has upgraded from the Simatic S7-1200 to the new generation of the Simatic S7-1200 G2 control system, a move that is said to have gone much smoother than expected.
Companies such as Tesla, Intel, Siemens, ABB, Apple, Nvidia, RTX, Lockheed Martin, Schneider Electric and TSMC are hiring electrical engineers to work on a range of projects, including chips, power systems, industrial automation and robotics.
Post Electric, a licensed electrical contractor serving Southwest Missouri, has announced the expansion of its residential electrical services to include comprehensive home automation and smart technology integration capabilities.
A recent report by construction scheduling platform Planera found that electricians have one of the lowest automation risks of any profession, at just 14%. The report also noted that demand for electricians is expected to grow by over 80,000 new positions nationally by 2026.
