Students from the Chariho Career and Technical Center's Electrical Technology program recently visited ProSystems Integration, an automation company, to learn about careers in industrial automation. The visit highlighted the customer-driven nature of the industry, with projects ranging from medical tubing equipment to automated systems for major brands like Hershey Chocolate and Krispy Kreme.
In business developments, Post Electric, an electrical contractor in Southwest Missouri, has expanded its services to include home automation and smart technology integration. This move is a response to the rising demand from homeowners looking to modernize their electrical systems for things like smart home devices and electric vehicle charging stations.
The demand for electrical engineers is also on the rise, with major companies like Tesla, Intel, Siemens, and NVIDIA actively hiring. These companies are seeking engineers to develop and manage the power systems required for advancements in AI, electrification, and automation.
On the product front, German electrical engineering manufacturer Wago has launched its first products enabled with the Matter standard, aiming to provide electricians with accessible automation solutions for residential construction. Meanwhile, Level Automation has upgraded its control systems to the new Simatic S7-1200 G2, a move that prepares them for the new NIS2 cybersecurity directive. The company reported that the migration to the new system was a swift and straightforward process.
