Chariho Career and Technical Center's Electrical Technology class visited ProSystems Integration, an automation company in Westerly, to give students a look at career opportunities in the industrial side of the field. The students were given a tour of the facility by owner John Brunelle and his son Jesse, a Chariho alumnus and engineer at the company. They explained that the industry is heavily driven by customer demand, with a wide variety of systems designed for different applications, from medical tubing to automated systems for companies such as Hershey Chocolate and Krispy Kreme. The students also had the opportunity to speak with other engineers about their day-to-day work. The visit was intended to expose students to the industrial side of the electrical industry and the career opportunities available in the automation field. The class instructor, Ryan Northup, said that the visit gave the students a real-world application of what they are learning in class and could inspire them to pursue a career in the field.
